The Biennale Interieur, that takes place in Belgium, sees a push back to 2021. The news comes along with the postponement of the Tallinn Architecture Biennale.

The Tallinn Architecture Biennale in Dubai to take place in 2021 and in Estonia to take place in 2022. Similarly, the London Design Biennale set to take place in September will be in 2021.

The postponing of the design fair is among a long list of events that see the same fate. It is due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has taken over the world.

About the event

The Biennale Interieur was to take place in Kortrijk, a Flemish city. The design fair takes place every other year; it last took place in 2018.

The festival has been taking place since 1968 and in 2018; saw celebrations of its 50th anniversary.

It is a five-day interior design festival that occurs in the month of October. It sees around 50,000 attendees.

From 21 October to 25 October in 2021 is now the official dates for The Biennale Interieur, at the Kortrijk Xpo fairground.

The furniture and design fair also holds the annual Belgian designer of the year award. It will take place in the autumn as usual. The organisers are taking the time to develop an intense and professional programme for this award.

Jo Libeer, the CEO of Biennale Interieur speaks of the immense impact of the pandemic. He speaks of the uncertainty that keeps looming as the investments are on hold.

They have decided to postpone the 27th edition of the Biennale Interieur by one year. This is to ensure not only the safety of the visitors but also that of the organisers.
