We last heard from the LightFair, the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference, on March 13. They spoke of the postponement of their trade show because of the COVID-19 crisis. The trade show is from 3 May to 7 May, the authorities postponed it to Las Vegas in the summer.

Present-day news

The LightFair 2020 will not follow the schedule due to the spreading COVID-19 pandemic.

The show cancellation has confirmation from the International Market Centers (IMC). The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) also spoke out about this.

Despite the cancellation, the authorities are trying to translate some elements onto an online forum. They are trying to hold the conference and the 2020 LightFair Innovation Awards in an online format.

Information regarding future shows

As of now, the next staging of the trade show will be in the month of May 2021, New York. Jacob K. Javits Convention Center will host the show, merged with NYCxDESIGN-New York Design Week.

The 2022 show is in June, Las Vegas is the place of hosting. The LightFair will be at the Las Vegas Convention Center from 21 to 23 June.

The LightFair in 2021 will hold a showcase containing new innovations in lighting design. It will provide more than 200 hours of accredited educational courses. The conference has more than 500 excellent manufacturers in May 2021.

The LightFair joins NYCxDESIGN and aims to re-imagine the experience of the attendees. The show has new programming and amenities with a new layout of the trade show. The site selection for the LightFair 2021 will begin in May 2020. Whereas, the registration for the individuals who wish to attend the trade show will open in 2021.
