The news of the cancellation was announced last Friday. The announcement was given by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM), which is in charge of the French fashion industry.

Details of the shows and the brands

Paris Couture Fashion Week was to be held from 5 to 9 of July. This news hit Balenciaga fans the worst. This is because Demna Gvasalia, the creative director of Balenciaga was to showcase their first haute couture collection at fashion week. For the time being, Balenciaga has postponed its haute couture collection to January 21.

Paris Men’s Fashion Week was to be held from 23 to 28 of June. But as it has been cancelled, the Spring/Summer 2021 menswear shows will be missed. The show was to showcase menswear from Dior, Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent and many more.

As the pandemic is in its peak in Europe, several fashion houses have stopped production to mass-produce face masks and protective gears. The companies are donating these materials to the health professionals on the frontline of fighting this pandemic. Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton are among the many brands to do so.

Other councils speak out

Following the cancellation of the fashion shows by the FHCM, several other councils have followed the same protocol. London Men’s Fashion Week that is held in June was called off by the British Fashion Council.

Men’s Fashion Week in Milan will be held in September says the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana. Tom Ford, the head of the Council of Fashion Designers of America has also postponed upcoming menswear shows.
